Press pause on screens and hit play!
We’re challenging all Australians to Go Play on the International Day of Play.
Our research shows active play helps children’s mental health, learning and social connection, yet most young children aren’t getting enough active play, and most are getting too much screen time.
This week, we’re challenging all Australians to Go Play. Just 15–30 minutes more active play with children each day can make a difference.
Why?
Play is not just something children love to do, it's how they learn and how they grow. When children get enough energetic play in early childhood and through life, they enjoy better:
- physical development, strength, coordination, balance
- mental health and emotional regulation
- cognitive development, attention and learning
- social connection and resilience
